It has been a few days since I last posted, but I have been quite busy, first with my yard sale. I decided to make one on Friday and Saturday. I had five tables to set up, and lots and lots of stuff to unpack. Well Friday it was windy, so I made it a short day, tables had to be cleared and put away again, Saturday at 7am I was out there hauling the tables back to the field and loading them up again. Let me tell you that at the end of my sale, I did not feel like dancing. grin.
I had the two dogs in the back and one of them is a yapper, and a customer mentioned my dogs, and I said do you want them? I was just kidding, anyway today Tuesday a loud knock on my door, I opened the door and this couple was standing there, I said yes? They replied "you said you had a dog to give away? " haha. I said I don't think my friend will ever part with them and I said I was just joking. So they left.
And I have finished my page on one of my Metis lines, I was looking for a beautiful native american song, and I found one but I had to buy it so I went to a video site and the site said I could use the video, so I have added it to the bottom of my webpage . If you go to my website at www.acadian-roots.com click on Acadian/Metis. Scroll to the bottom of the page you will see the url and the name Ashne Ate........ Hope you like it because I sure do.
I also added a list of links at the bottom of the page to other native american sites. Some are very nice sites and I notice so many people so dedicated to their work and on creating very informative sites.
Thanks for the visit do come again.

You never know what you find when you dig. Archaeologists dig, they find bones, they find old china, they find old pipes, and old foundations.
We who do genealogy, we who do family trees, we dig, and we search , and we uncover great treasures also. We find who we are, we find where we come from. We find old photos of our ancestors.
Some find that their ancestors were pirates, some find that their ancestors were of royal descent, some find that their ancestors died tragically, others find they have a mixture of english, or irish, or native american, or french canadian, or even african descent. We have bad guys in our lines, we have good guys in our lines. Never the less we should all be proud of who we are. Because right now, we who are researching our roots, are a very special breed. We are leaving something behind us when we leave this earth. Maybe this is why we are here, to do this digging and writing things down. So that history will be retold over and over again by our descendants. I am proud to be a little part of all of this.
Now on a sadder note, two days ago someone I knew died tragically, he was working for the city and putting up the signs for constructing, when a big tractor trailer crashed into him. He had just gotten back to work after two weeks holidays, and he was planning on retiring next year. His name was Butch, and he was a very kind man. His mother was in a nursing home, and he would visit her everyday faithfully, feed her, and run errands for the other patients, and talk to them. After his mother died he kept on going to the nursing because he had become fond of other patients too, so he would run errands for them.
He was a drummer in a band for many years, he was also a runner. It is so sad when someone leaves for the day and doesn't make it home again.
So to all you truck drivers and all you drivers out there, please be very careful, drive safe, sometimes people don't look where they are going and sometimes people dress in dark clothes and cannot be seen at night. Again please drive safe everyone and please stay safe.

Poem to begin todays blog, sent to me from a friend in Connecticut ,I really liked it and hope you like it too;
" Among my many memories
Is Grandpa's ole Straw Hat.
It was his companion outdoors
Wherever he was at.
He wore it out in the fields
Where he worked long hours each day
When he was planting corn and beans
Or working in the hay.
When he would go to the barn
He wore overalls of denim blue
And his old straw hat on his head
For he had chores to do.
Sometimes he'd sit on the creek bank
Where he would fish awhile
The sun beat down on his old straw hat
But on his face he wore a smile.
His old straw hat had seen better days
It had been the best of its kind
But it was getting tattered and worn
But didn't seem to really mind.
He was contented in his old straw hat
Whether working or at rest
He was satified with what he had
Yes! Grandpa was the very best.
by Frances Carter.
Now I really loved this poem. I remember my Dad always wore brimmed hats . He always wore a shirt and tie, and I remember my Mom ironing and starching his white shirts. No matter where Dad went , he always looked good. And when my Dad's hats would wear out, my brother used to cut the brim off and make a hat and add some trinkets out of boxes of cracker jacks onto the hat. Some of my brother's friends began doing the same thing, it was their fad at the time.
Ah, those were the days, and these are the memories.

Well you must have missed me a little, but I was unavailable for a short while, I was swinging on my chandelier for about fifteen minutes, to begin with I have my private little computer room, I thought I was snug as a bug in a rug, so earlier today I made a cuppa tea and decided to come online and work in my private little room. I had set my cuppa tea down and stepped out of the room, when I opened the door, I saw it. I looked again . Yikes ! A MOUSE was laying on my carpet, I yelled helppppppppp. My friend came running in, by that time I was hanging on my chandelier. Get it out, Get it out. When the mouse was out of my little room, do you know I had even forgotten I had a cuppa tea. It sure was cold by then. Now I am back here, and I keep looking around. I am ready to make a quick getaway if need be. sob sob.
On a nicer note, I went and picked up the books I had made for my grandchildren for Christmas, I am so very pleased with the results. I am sure the kids will love their little story books created by their memere.
I changed to look of my photo gallery today , it looks nicer, and I had my first user add her photos today.
I phoned the dog kennel to set an appointment to take the dogs there while we go to Prince Edward Island on Friday, I checked the weather, so far there is a 10 percent chance of rain on one day and 30 percent the next day. Sure hope it stays that way.
We are going to Abram Village but first I want to do a cemetery if possible. Abram Village has a festival every Labor Day weekend, people go in load by bus. So the crown will be very big. It should be fun.
Will keep you posted, thanks for the visit
Have a great day

Can you believe it? Our summer is nearly over? But I do love the fall, with the changing colors of the leaves and it is cooler. I love taking rides in the country ,down some little unknown road (with lots of gas in the car ,grin) and admire the scenery. The colors are spectacular, oranges and yellows ,reds and greens.
Well I have been busy with my genealogy research , I have added more names to my database and I am at awe at what I find. I was told we had some native american blood, I said 'I don't believe it". But lo and behold a few days ago , I trace one of my lines that I had not ventured into and yep, one gentleman married a native american. Well that did not satisfy me, so into Stephen White's DGFA I go. Yes again it is true. I am truly a great mixture, someone said I was a Heinz 57 , I am really believing that I am. But nevertheless. I am so grateful for all the ancestors in my line. Because without all of them, there would be no me, and without me there would be no children and grandchildren that i love so.
And I have ventured where no Aline had ventured before, grin. I decided to add a photo gallery on my website www.acadian-roots.com , now what software do I use? I checked out so many of them, I even downloaded a few but when it got to the hard part of setting them up, this little brain of mine went into a slow mode. grin. So finally I decided to add coppermine photo gallery. I still did not have a clue what to do, but to begin I downloaded it, then what? So I contacted my webhost ICD Soft, and let me tell you, the support I got was the greatest. They had patience with me, and without their help, there is no way I would have understood all these php, and msql and so on. Now that It is on my website, I would like to change the theme, the colors but again I have no clue what to do, but for now at least there is a photo gallery. I want to post and others to post our ancestors in order to be able to share with others. I would love to see new photos with some of my ancestor on them. So I keep hoping there will be photos as such.
I still have our chat room at my family.com and I really enjoy it because we can chat off the genealogy subject, we share photos there too.
On Labor day weekend (next weekend) if the weather permits I am going to Prince Edward Island for two reasons, first I am going to try and do one cemetery, I sure hope the rain stays away, and then I am off to Abrams Village for a festival and exhibition. So please keep your fingers crossed that the weather will be nice.
Thank you so much for the lovely visit, do come away.

Another year older. Well today was my grandson's eleventh birthday. So my daughter in law asked me to pick up some little prizes for the kids. There were six kids invited plus my two grandchildren. So off to the dollar store I went. I picked up some little prizes, umbrellas for the girls and games for the boys. I picked up the little gift bags to put them in, plus some candies. So arriving at their home today, I decided to do a treasure hunt game. While the kids were in the house I snuck outside and placed the little gift bags in the backyard, one in a tree , one under another three, one along the tree lines and another one elsewhere. Then we got the kids together and told them, Bobby you look for a bag with a dog, Jimmy you look for a bag with a flower on it, Mary you look for a bag with a pink stripe and Joey you look for a bag with a rooster on it. It was fun for them as you can see in the photo. They were running , and laughing and one by one they found their gifts. Next I put nine candy rings in a bag and said look inside the bag very fast, now guess from one to ten how many are in there. So a little girl guessed it, she won the prize. Next came opening the gifts, eating pizza and having cake. All in all my grandson had a great birthday.
Now in my family when my grandson has a birthday we buy a little something for my grandaughter, and when she has her birthday we buy a little something for my grandson. Today I got them some school supplies, and inside my grandaughter's bag I slipped a photo. The photo was of me at her age, and I had long shoulder length hair, thick and light brown, my grandaughter has long black hair. And I pointed out to her how my sweater was buttoned all wrong. smile. So now she has a photo of her memere at the same age as she is now. I know she is going to put the photo away in her special bureau drawer. I do hope that years from now when I am no more, that she will still have that photo of her memere. After the party my grandchildren said bye Memere I love you. That sure made my day.
And today I added their school list of supplies into their family tree book so years from now they will look at the book, laugh and say wow those were the school supplies I needed way back then.
Thanks for listening , have a great day

Acadians came from all over to celebrate the Acadian Day Festival. The weather did not dampen their spirits, as you can see by the sky ,the rain was not far .I attended two celebrations, first we went to Cap Pele, and watched the clowns with the children, listened to a musician called Gary Donelle, it was the first time we heard him singing Acadian songs, he was very good, he ended his set with the song Lac Bijou , a song by Zacharie Richard, I loved it. They had face painting, and lots of people had their faces done. In Cap Pele they had a dish of smoked fish, a lot of people were nibbling on the pieces. From Cap Pele we headed back towards home, and we went to the Dover Park in Dieppe, that is where the photo was taken. It was a huge park, they had dignitaries, and they also celebrated the opening of the Internation Kite Festival, with people from 17 countries participating. The music was fantastic, one of the bands was Reveille, and they really had the place clapping and dancing and singing. It was a great experience to be able to be among all the celebrations. If you would like to see more photos and more of the festival go to www.acadian-roots.com click on Acadian Road Trips and enjoy the photos. I held this little acadian flag while watching the activities and just when it was nearly time to leave, I broke my flag. So I am putting that I want a new one on my christmas list. grin.

Hello everyone, thanks for the visit. To begin I would like to tell you that I do things on impulse a lot of the times. This morning I came online, and then I thought, gee I would like to go to Prince Edward Island and maybe do one or two cemeteries. So I asked my friend to come , we left here around 1130am. The weather was beautiful. We crossed the confederation bridge and arriving on PEI we stopped at the tourist bureau, I wanted to know how to get to Egmont Bay and to Rustico. So we got a map, and decided to go to Egmont Bay, and if we finished early to go to Rustico. It was a lovely drive, seeing all the potato fields, and the green grass, and the water. We passed though Abram Village, and we were not far from Mont Carmel, I saw the church there and was very tempted to do that cemetery instead of Egmont Bay or to do the both. But we kept going towards Egmont Bay. We arrived there , found the churches, the old one and the new one,but no cemetery in sight. So we seen this elderly man riding a four wheeler, and we stopped, and said do you speak french or english, he was french, where is the cemetery? we asked, OH he replied I am going that way follow me. So we turned my car around and followed him right to the cemetery. The cemetery is located near the water, there were people swimming nearby. So we went into the cemetery and I had taken my tape recorder with me, so I began by recording the names, my tape recorder is staticky, anyway I taped for 60 minutes and my recorder stopped, so the next step was pen and paper, many of the stones were not readable, could not even see one letter or one date, so we had to skip them, so many of the ancestors would have to be found through the cemetery plans.
There were lots of Arsenaults and Gallants in that cemetery, some Bernards, Gaudets,a few Cormiers and Legers (very few) and other surnames. We were in the cemetery for over three hours, the sun was hot and the mosquitos were coming out , I did not do the latest ones buried there, a few were in the older part but the last ones buried, I did not do, since it was getting late, and I was getting hot and getting a sunburn. But I really enjoyed being there. We passed by the Miscouche genealogy center, I would have loved to go in, but today it was not possible, perhaps I will go back before the winter comes. We arrived home at 830 pm. I wanted to share my trip with you. If you live near a cemetery, it would be a great thing if you could go into the cemetery and copy the names and dates, and maybe even donate it to your genealogy center. And if you want to ,I can also add it on my website at www.acadian-roots.com with your name as the source.
Oh and don't forget that August the 15th is Acadian Day so go out and have a great time.

Mice Mice go away, Aline would really like to stay. grin. Yep another one bites the dust. I live in a neighborhood that has old buildings so I guess the mice enjoy them. I have been looking for a place , so far no luck since I am a bit picky, I don't want to go back to the country.
On a more pleasant note, I received some mail today from a Bergeron Cousin from Louisiana, the article was regarding Barthelemy Bergeron's father in law. Seems that his father in law Jean Serreau dit St Aubin found out that a certain Jean Terme was romancing his wife Marguerite Boileau. Jean warned Mister Terme to leave his wife alone, but Terme did not heed his warning, and one day Jean Serreau caught them holding hands and filled with anger and fury he picked up the nearest wood or club he could find and Whack he hit Jean Terme over the head and knocked him out dead. Hmmm. Jean Serreau had to leave town, he went to France where he received a pardon from the King and returned to Canada.
Speaking of romance, did I tell you that when my parents met, my mom was barely 14, my dad was 9 years older and they decided to get married, now my mother's father was away a lot but he did not appove of his daughter married at such a young age. That did not deter my parents, they would meet at my great aunts place and on a little wooden bridge to make plans. One day they took the train went into the city and got married by a baptist minister. OH that did not fare very well, the parish priest found out about it and he went and broke them up, sent my father home and my mother to her place. Then the priest wrote to the bishop asking permission to bless their marriage, the bishop agreed and they remarried. All this time my grandfather was away. When he returned and found out his daughter had married, he was furious , and my parents avoided him, but my grandfather was not finished, he went over to my father's fathers place and burned down his barn. I found this article regarding this in our paper, and saved it.
Aww The Things that Love can Do, it can be long ago or even today.

They're coming to take me away haha....sob sob. do you remember me telling you the incident I had with the mouse in my last residence?well in my new residence, that I just recently moved in, I was sitting on my rocking chair, minding my own business, chatting with my son, when what do I see following the baseboard and running under my fridge. A Mouse ,A Mouse, help! help!, well off to the store I go, I got two mouse traps, some poison pellets, and spread them around where it was safe for the dogs. I then went and checked around, they had started a nest under my loveseat cushin, they had paper and droppings so I cleaned that out, and I did not like it, anyway about five minutes ago I got up from my computer to go downstairs, and there was this DEAD mouse, right in the floor of my computer room. Guess who is going to move? Guess who is going to move as soon as she can find a place with two dogs. Yep Me, Aline, I got so scared. It is a wonder I am not in a strait jacket right now. Where I live the basement has lots of holes that the critters can enter. The landlord wants to tear this complex down in five years, well I am not waiting five years before I go. The two mouse traps are laden with peanut butter, they prefer to come scare me to death instead of eating the peanut butter. sob sob..... Please keep your fingers crossed that I can find something else real soon.
Have a great day. I did have one until five minutes ago , grin.

Wooden Shoes, yes can you imagine our ancestors wearing these? Well when we went to Port Royal, we were told that they were very comfortable, I was very tempted to try them on, but I was a bit shy. Anyway these wooden shoes were usually made out of poplar tree because that type of wood would last longer. The ones who made the shoes would work on the wood when it was wet so it would be more flexible and the wood would not break as easy. To learn more about the wooden shoes go to http://library.thinkquest.org/C005615/data/english/games/woodenfore.html there is an
article on how the shoes were made long ago and how they are done today.
I came across an old postcard from someplace in Quebec of an old man sitting down smoking a pipe and I noticed he had on a pair of wooden shoes. Apparently they wooden shoes worn by our Acadian Ancestors were worn every day and for special occasions they wore leather shoes. One day I would like to return to Port Royal and try on a pair of these wooden shoes, just to say ,"Look I have on a pair of wooden shoes similar to what my ancestors once wore.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Hello and thank you for stopping by, because today I am a bit sad and I needed to tell you why. When my son was engaged to my daughter in law he got her a puppy for valentine day, I remember that day so well, they had gone to a pet store and saw this cute little ball of fur, but they walked away and went to the restaurant they could not get this cute little puppy out of their minds so they went back and got her. They named her fluffy, she was part golden lab and part german shepherd. And they took her home, my son got married four months later, and while they went on their honey moon I took care of Fluffy. Then they found out that they were going to have baby, oh my what will Fluffy do to the new baby, it was panic time, but not to worry, they laid the baby girl on a blanket and our Fluffy walked up to her, sniffed a bit and laid beside her, she would do that each time they laid the baby down, then another baby came along and it was the same thing over again. Now it has been over 14 years and our Fluffy had to be put down today. My son called me yesterday so very upset so I went over yesterday but we did not have a muzzle for her and she was sick to on our way home last night we picked up a muzzle and returned this morning, the kids were sent to their other Nanas , my daughter in law had to work , that left my son me and my friend to take care of Fluffy. We were told to give her a gravol to make her sleepy, she did not want to eat so I said put it in some ice cream, she gobbled it up no problem. Then my son had to put the muzzle on and did it ever hurt him to do so , since Fluffy had never ever wore a muzzle. then we wrapped her in a blanket and put her in the van and took her to the animal shelter , They helped us to take her inside. I felt so bad for my son. I tried to comfort him saying she wants to go, that is why she isnt eating . And you are doing the right thing. We had her cremated and the ashes will be ready in a few days, so tonight I phoned to see how my little family was and my son said Mom we just made a decision, my grandson is to make a little cross, and they will bury Fluffy near to where she always laid, and they are going to plant a little tree nearby. I said that is a nice thing to do, it will bring closure to the family.
I want to add something sort of genealogy related, do you remember I told you I made little books for the grandchildren one about my mother, one about my late husband? Well I also had made one for my grandson, and it was all about FLUFFY. And I remember closing that little story saying, when I am gone you can tell your little boy or girl someday that you had a very nice dog named Fluffy.

Acadian Food and Acadian Gardens. To begin with , I took the photo of the garden at Fort Louibourg ,so this would be how our ancestors probably did their planting. That is not the way I did my garden, I did mine in rows, but this way looks much easier. So the Acadians planted corn, turnips, potatoes, beans, carrots, cabbage, and their herbs. If you check out my Beaubassin Trip in my webpage at www.acadian-roots.com I have added an exert from a man who went to Beaubassin and the meal that was served to him. The acadians loved their mutton and fish. The next photo depicts a potato pancake, I ate that one at Annapolis Royal, there was a market on the saturday so my friend and I went there, when I saw the sign potato pancakes I thought they were crepe rapees , but nooooo they tasted like a fish cake sort of, they were made of cooked mashed potatoes and fried golden brown. They were tasty, but I much prefer my grated potato pancakes.
Well as you know I am always trying to think of things to improve my site, and help my members, now I have created a room at my family.com , there we can chat , add photos, add events, so far it is going quite well, but to join you need an invite. We are posting some of our ancesors photos and other photos as well. If you just surfed in and are interested in joining please coment here or go to my website and email me or join my acadianroots group. In my acadianroots group, we cater to Acadians and Cajuns and French Canadians are always welcome, if we can help you in any way we will try, also maybe someone out there may like to also come in and help with lookups. I just finished adding some marriages for Saint Louis de Kent parish in New Brunswick. So now it is coffee time. Thank you for stopping by, hope to see you again.
Have a great day

Going back into the past, we are looking at two photos, the one that has two square openings was the ovens that they used to bake their bread at Fort Louisbourg. Now there were more than one oven, but one of the ovens baked 75 loaves of bread. So you can imagine if they had 6 ovens going at one time, that would be bread for many soldiers. The soldiers were each rationed one loaf of fresh bread, but in order for them to have fresh bread daily, they would share their bread among the other soldiers and the other soldiers in turn would share their bread .The bread was not given out on all the same days, this way by sharing their bread the soldiers had fresh bread daily. The next photo was taken in Port Royal. This would have been a typical fireplace that they would also use ,for heat and to cook their meals. I noticed how nice the heat was from these fireplaces at a few of the rooms we visited. In Fort Louisbourg it was quite cold since the Fort was on the waterfront, so when we entered a room with a fireplace and heated with wood, ahhhhhhhh it sure felt good. Did you notice the broom near the ovens? Many of the brooms were made with corn stalks. And the round wooden barrels? Some acadians used their barrels to hold rain water. Some used them to salt their meats and vegetables and I am certain they had many many other uses for their barrels. Perhaps to store their flour? It is so nice to be able to go to these forts and museums to have a glimpse of the past and the history of the way our ancestors lived. Thanks for stopping by, and do come again.

Well our trip continued along the Cabot Trail, we began seeing Acadian flags, and Acadian names, next we arrived at Cheticamp. What a lovely little village, we stopped at a bakery to ask directions and the people were so friendly and they spoke to me in French. We were told to keep going straight, first stop was at the Trois Pignon, pictured above, the genealogy place. So my friend is not into genealogy so I went and checked the books, and found one on the Poirier Families. Which I proudly bought. Next stop was, you will never guess. yep Tim Horton's Coffee Shop. Sitting there, a man asked us if we were from Quebec, no we said we are from New Brunswick. He continued to tell us he has been to our hospital and has a girlfriend on the outskirts of our city. Small World huh? Next we went to the wharf, the photo above was taken by me when we arrived. We were also told that the lobster season was over for them and crab season was opened. We continued our trip, next stop was the church. What a beautiful church. I took some photos of the inside, and while we were there I burned two candles, one for my father and one for my late husband. I felt good doing so.
Then we decided we would not be sleeping over and we were going to try and make it back home that same night. So we left Cheticamp for home. Crossing the Canso Causeway,I told my friend, next time we come this way I would love to stop in at Pomquet, my reason was because some of my members of my acadianroots group has asked me to do some lookups for them at the genealogy center. And lo and behold my friend turned off at Pomquet. Well you can imagine how happy I was, so I said I want to take a photo of the church, arriving at the church guess what was on the side ? Yep a cemetery and yes I walked to it and yes i copied a few names but it was getting late and we wanted to make it home before it got too dark. But I was pleased with the little visit to Pomquet. So we made it home before dark. And it was a lovely trip. Next I shall talk about other things I saw, with photos.

So it was rest time. The next moring we were on the road bright and early. Instead of starting on the other side of the Cabot Trail which would have been better we were told because we would be on the side of the mountains looking down, but we did not know this. So we began our trip the opposite side but that did not stop us from seeing such magnificent sites. We stopped at different stop areas and took photos. As you see the photo which I tried to add below the St Anne Bay one and it did not work, smile. Isn't it a beautiful site?
We continued along the trail until we reached the entrance to the National Park named Ingonish and had our breakfast. It was a nice restaurant and the food was great. Then we continued on the trail stopping when we could, taking more photos. I even took photos while we were driving along. You can see one of them on the main page of Acadian Trips on my site.

We climbed mountains, and we went down mountains, some places we had to shift to low gear to descend. There were lots of Moose Crossing signs along the way, since moose like hills and high grounds but we were fortunate not to have one cross our path.
Next we were on the opposite side of the trail Pleasant Bay, next Presq'ile then Cheticamp.
To be continued.

Now the photo on the top right is Moncton is what I saw through my younger years. I remember
Woolworths, and about where the white car is on the right side, was the street where I worked before I got married. The street next to that one was Robinson Street where Mom used to go visit. And My great grandfather and his family lived on Lutes and Robinson long ago.
To the left of the photo is the Subway Block , it is still there today, and if you look on the photo of 1930 you will notice it there also. It was built in 1918.
So thank you for strolling with me down memory lane
Have a great day

Hello my faithful readers, and welcome to all you newcomers. Well yesterday I had wanted to watch the fireworks but as it turned out, I had that flu, so decided to watch it from my room, but lo and behold, when the fireworks started and I went to the window all I could see was my big , enormous maple tree. So at least I heard the booms and saw a little bit of light here and there. grin.
I have been busy trying to create buttons for my website. I have made a few ,and they are not too bad for a beginner. It sort of encourages me to experiment a bit more.
I have also been searching on the net, for more links to add to my website. There sure are great sites out there. Such as the Terriot site, the Our Folks site, so I have added those to my link page. I am sure there are Terriot/Terriaults out there who do not know about the site. And the Quebec database is good also if you have french canadian ancestors. I have some, and I have Acadian, and English. Boy my English line is hard to trace, I cannot find much on them ,when they died and so on. And In England I am still trying to find information on my Chate line who were in Deptford England. Abraham Chate married to maybe Ann Rose. They had three kids that I know of, one was my ancestor Abraham born 1697. When he arrived in New Brunswick he got some land and on the deed he is named Chate, from then on he is known as Chase. I know on my Williams line I won't be able to go further since Williams may have been his first name William from Bristol. So that line is sort of harder to trace. I would have to find every first name William born in Bristol around 1750.
So if I can find my Abraham Chate line I will be one happy lady. My Acadian ancestors, were Cormier,Leger,Bellefontaine,Breau,Dupuis,Surette,Lirette,Martin,Boudreau and others. So I have lots of Acadian blood, French Canadian, I have Bergeron,Soucy,LeBel,Cloutier,Nadeau,Bouchard,Boilleau, and more.
One of my group members posted a message today saying that The Olive Tree has added a page on identifying old photos. I think that is a great idea. I would love to have a site that we could all add our oldest photos, and identify them , so that we could exchange them. That way if one person would lose the photo, then the photo would continue elsewhere. I love old photos, just found one in a book I borrowed of the Cotton Mill in Moncton. My grandmother , her sister, my dad's aunts all worked there before they were married, and my grandmother got married in 1915. So that is a long while ago. The building is gone, the ancestors are gone, but there is still a photo left.
Have a great day everyone

How was Canada day? Well I do hope that all of you Canadians had a great day. We decided to go watch the fireworks ,they were being held at our river front. So we stopped at a store , picked up some munchies, I got a 7up, some chips and a chocolate bar. MMM I was all ready, had my camera. So off we went, boy there were lots of cars, all lined up in parking lots, in grocery store lots, behind restaurants, even across the street and folks were walking over to the side of the river. (Petitcodiac). So we found our spot, the car was pointing towards the riverfront. There were lots and lots of dark clouds above. I thought to myself, well the fireworks will show up good. OH here comes a police car. He sure is driving slow. We decided to walk to the side of the river when the couple in the car ahead of me were walking towards their car. They yelled " Cancelled until tomorrow night". Grrrrrrrr. Ok then we are going to go to a movie. It is starting at 920 pm. It is 9 pm. I haven't gone to a movie in a while. Got there, all excited to see the show. The show started at 820 . Grrrrr. On our way home , driving on the road, I wasnt watching where I was going and instead of taking the center lane , I was on the outside lane, got to the lights (it was a turning lane) sob sob...Got home decided to watch a movie on television, laid back the story was getting good. Poof I fell asleeep.... haha.
Well as you know I am planning a trip to Port Royal, I have been searching for campgrounds, a friend of mine suggested some campsites. Boy there are some nice campgrounds around.
And I have also been looking for information on where abouts or around where my Barthelemy Bergeron lived, and where Jacques Leger dit La Rosette lived. I found where Jacques lived, and I came across two articles on approximately where Barthelemy lived, he lived near Abraham Dugas. Jacques Leger lived near Roundhill. I would love to go walk near where they lived , just to say I have walked where my ancestors walked. I also want to go to the Deportation Cross is in Grand Pre. I have the instructions on how to get there. I am hoping to be able to go sometimes next week.
Maybe after my trip I will have lots more to share with you. So have a great day, thank you for dropping by.
