Genealogy and Humor
Genealogy like anything else has it's funny moments, and that is a good thing it keeps us motivated in keeping on going. Sometimes we hit brick walls, then one day they come tumbling down. It might take a long time for that wall to break, but there are so many new resources that seem to appear, places we haven't looked through, places we don't think to look through and all of a sudden we hit a gold mine, well to the researchers it is like a gold mine, or finding that pot of gold (lost ancestor).
I am at the present doing two different surname lines for someone and I thought "Gee I have that line connected right to the first ancestor recorded " Not so ! Come to find out, I was barking up the wrong tree, same name, different line. groan. But that didn't stop me, back to the searching. Oh Boy! Here he is, now I am on the right track. So I am on my way, I know there will be roadblocks along the way but I will get through them. Now I have decided that I needed to create some funny and some nice genealogy products. I have created some churches and will add more, and I have some funny tee shirt like the one above and more if you go to my genealogy folder at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor* you will see what I have so far also you can go to my new website at http://allicorshop.acadian-roots.com/ and look there.
So now I am off to to I don't know what or I don't know where to start things. grin.
Thanks for the visit and please come again
Have a great day

Blogs and Websites
Have you even been at a point where you cannot think or have what they call a senior moment? Well guess what, I think I have reached it. grin. So I am on a blog that doesn't know which way it is going. I hope that I can keep you interested. I have four blogs to do. One on my space, one on zazzle and two on here. Some are not as active as others. My most used one is this blog because I started this one to go along with my acadian-roots.com website. I was going to talk a lot about Acadians and genealogy but I think my readers would like to read other things too.
Now as you noticed I have recently been talking about my store and posting photos but I feel as if I am sufforcating everyone, seeing as many are not interested in my gallery and again there are many who are interested, so I have decided to create another blog, which I have done so but I have not connected it anywhere so far. So now what am I going to do? Well if you look at my genealogy site at http://www.acadian-roots.com/ you will notice how my site is set up, so I am now setting up another website on the same principle for my store. I intend on blogging there too . My website will be devoted to my store and other stores and I hope to have it created so it will be interesting to go there. I will keep you posted. But don't worry I will still be blogging here.
At the moment regarding genealogy I have been asked to do a two different family trees for someone, I am trying to go into details to make their books interesting, such as find the obituaries, finding some little stories and adding photos, I think this is much better than just writing John was a son of Fred and Mable, he was born1500 and died in 1567. But if I say John was born in a little village on the outskirts of Manitoba and at the age of 19 he married the neighbor Joe Smith's daughter and they settled in Manitoba where John worked as a butcher and he was called to active duty etc etc etc. When I did my family tree which I am always adding to when I come across something. I wrote that my great grandfather married in New Brunswick ,he went where there was work ,for a while they were in Nova Scotia then they went to Maine next they returned home. So as you can see this is much more interesting to read. For the ones of you who are into genealogy maybe just beginning? As you hear stories or read stories about your ancestors write them down, you can always begin with your parents, how did they meet? Does your Mother remember how your Father proposed to her? I think I told you a few blogs ago, that my Dad sold his bike for three dollars and he paid for the licence and for Mom's wedding band with it. I find that so romantic. I am so sorry that I could not talk to my grandmothers when they were living, but back then i wasn't into genealogy, so if your grandparents are living ,ask them questions, I am sure they would love to tell you things, as I have said many times "once they are gone, so are their memories". We need to keep their memories alive.
Now my blog turned out to be quite long huh? grin. So to end this, here is yours truly wearing one of her creations, don't look at the face look at the shirt. haha. you can find this tee shirt and others like it in my genealogy folder at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*
If you cannot read what it says, it says "found some nuts in my family tree" .
Have a great day

Who is P'tit Francois and what Contest?
Hello everyone, today I was thinking about what I could blog about . Sometimes I
have tons of ideas and topics today it is early so the topics are few . grin.
So what about P'tit Francois? Well first of all P'tit Francois is a weekly storyline in the french L'Etoile paper in New Brunswick Canada ,it is written by Everard Maillet who speaks as if he is P'tit Francois. P'tit Francois is an Acadian man who lives in Bouctouche Bay (Fond de la Baie). He was living alone in his cabin and along comes two widows complicating his life. One is Rose Smallwood who comes from Montreal and the other one is Edmee who comes from Memramcook. Both women has their eye on P'tit Francois. The article is in French and I have been given permission to translate it to English on my website at http://www.acadian-roots.com/ . When you get to my site the first page automatically switches to the page with the sidebar on the left side, you will see P'tit Francois ,click there and the newest story will be the last one . This week's story is titles" Ate too much spaghetti.". And this week P'tit Francois has started a Mother's Day Contest you can read about it on my website . Anyone can enter ,and one entry per person. What I like about the contest it that we have to write a couple of sentences about why we love our Mothers or why she was special to us. I hope you will stop by Acadian-Roots and read his little stories. The french version is much better than the english version because he uses slang, I try to translate as best I can.
Now changing the subject how do you like my MOUSEHEAD shirt? smile. Yesterday I went in my gallery and looked over in my tee shirt folder, and I didn't realize I had so many funny t-shirts there, some for ladies and some for men. I hope you will check them out also check out to see if there is something there to give to your MOM. I have mugs, posters, hats, aprons, greeting cards, tee shirts suitable for Mothers or Grandmothers too. Go to http://www.zazzle.com/allicor* I would also like to add if you are planning a reunion and you see some of my designs and you would like to add something especially for your reunion let me know and I will do my best to accomodate your requests. I have lots of invitations suitable for reunions, gatherings, parties too you find those in my greeting card folder.
As as P'tit Francois would say in French * On'ce parlra plus tard" We will talk later.
Have a great day and thanks for the lovely visit.

Cold Winter Days
For many of us, it is winter time and winter brings snow and it brings cold weather. I was listening to the news last night and it showed other places gripped by the cold and bad weather.
Florida for one, is in a cold snap, and this could mean that their oranges will be spoiled and that means if they lose their crops, the fruit in our grocery store could go up in price.
Here where I live yesterday it was cold, with the wind chill factor it felt like minus 25 celsius, and that is cold. I never started my car, I sure hope it will start today because it is still cold.
So what can we do if its too cold to go anywhere? Ahhhhh, there is something we can do and that is to put all our genealogy stuff in order, or start our family tree journal? Rearrange our photos, identify them. If we have a family tree software like Legacy or Family Tree Maker of PAF etc we can maybe add more names, do some searching at Ancestry or if we have French-Canadians lines we can check out Tanguay's dictionary online. Genealogy is a hobby that is endless, meaning there is always something else to do. Has a member in your family or relative passed away recently? Did you add their date of death to your records? What about the ones who just got married? Now is the time to take notes it will save lots of time later trying to find those dates.
Now changing the subject, I have been busy with a few things, I am thinking of adding something on my website, but am researching on how to do it, this is a project that may help someone in some way. If I do it , I will let you all know when it is finished.
And I am still creating things for my store, (you can see the flash panel way at the bottom of this page). Today I made two reunion invitations, (but I am hoping to get better at it) and I did some funny stuff yesterday. You can see the invites in the greeting card folder and the funny stuff in humor , and in tee shirts, did some Irish things too. So you can go window shop, the store is quite big , and if you happen to like something it is there for sale. I recently sold some invitations and I was glad ,because it gave me incentive to create more. grin. Oh and if you go to the children folder you will see a postage stamp of three children, (I am one of them)and I an now on a postage stamp. grin. These are real postage stamps approved by the USA Post. I also have other postage stamps, a valentine girl one, another pretty little girl, Rocky the Raccoon, and more.
I have lots of funny bumper stickers, also some with good advice. You can go to
http://www.zazzle.com/allicor* and look around. Now it is coffee time and so I shall see you all next time.
